Gabe Torres is a music educator based in Central Kentucky currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music Education and minor in Spanish at Eastern Kentucky University. He is graduating in the spring of 2027. Gabe maintains a 3.89 GPA. He graduated from Bourbon County High School Magna Cum Laude in 2023.
Under mentors Eric Hale and Michael Stone, Gabe earned multiple principal trumpet positions in KMEA District 7 Honor Bands and KMEA All-State Symphonic Bands, and was invited to the 2023 Music for All National Honor Band (did not attend). He also performed in three KMEA AAAA State and two BOA A Grand National Championship marching bands at Bourbon County. In 2022, he performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade; a first in school history.
After high school, Gabe performed with the 2023 Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. The corps achieved its highest score in a decade and won the "DCI Fan Favorite" Award. In the summer of 2025, Gabe performed as a trumpet soloist with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps. The Crusaders earned the highest score in their history, the Jim Ott Award for best brass performance, and a DCI World Championship. He held a coveted position on the hornline tuning group and won an internal award for brass excellence. Gabe has learned under renowned educators such as Gino Cipriani, JD Shaw, Aaron Bailey, Matt Hartwell, Steve Bentley, Felix Cruz, Thomas Hubel, Jarrett Lipman, and more.
At Eastern Kentucky University, Gabe has earned principle trumpet spots in the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Concert Band. He resurrected the 'Eastern Trumpet' Registered Student Organization for the first time since COVID-19 and has been elected president of the EKU Trumpet Studio twice. In the winter of 2024, he was a founding member of Postero Brass, a brass quintet that has completed multiple tours across Kentucky. They are the only active student-led brass quintet at EKU and the first documented brass quintet to offer clinics in public schools.
Gabe has taught and performed at multiple Kentucky schools including: Union Commonwealth University, Madison Central, Harrison County, Bourbon County, Corbin, Williamstown, Valley, Nicholas County, George Rogers Clark, Madison Southern, Powell County, B. Michael Caudill Middle School, Madison Middle School, Boonesborough Elementary School, and more. He was a visual designer for the 2024 Harrison County Band which earned state runner-up in class AAAA. He currently oversees the brass program at Harrison County, teaches private trumpet lessons, works as a visual designer, and frequently performs with his trumpet.
In his free time, Gabe enjoys spending time with his family and friends, creating memories with his girlfriend, and playing his favorite game: Counterstrike.
