Gabe Torres is a music educator based in Central Kentucky and is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Music Education at Eastern Kentucky University. Gabe maintains a 3.89 GPA. He graduated from Bourbon County High School Summa Cum Laude in 2023.
Under mentors Eric Hale and Michael Stone, Gabe earned multiple principal trumpet positions in KMEA District 7 Honor Bands and KMEA All-State Symphonic Bands, and was invited to the 2023 Music for All National Honor Band (did not attend). He is also grateful to have participated in three KMEA AAAA State and two BOA A Grand National Championship bands at Bourbon County. In 2022, they attended the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in school history.
After high school, Gabe performed with the 2023 Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, where the corps achieved its highest score in a decade. In the summer of 2025, he was offered a contract as a trumpet soloist with the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps, where the corps earned the highest score in its history, the Jim Ott Award for best brass performance, and a DCI World Championship. He attained a coveted position on the hornline tuning group and won an internal award for Brass Excellence along with his twin brother, Lance.
At Eastern Kentucky University, Gabe has earned principle trumpet spots in the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and Concert Band. He resurrected the 'Eastern Trumpet' Registered Student Organization for the first time since COVID-19 and has been elected president of the EKU Trumpet Studio twice. In the winter of 2024, he was a founding member of Postero Brass, a brass quintet that has completed multiple tours across the Commonwealth. They are currently the only active student-led brass quintet at EKU and plan to continue performing after they have earned their degrees.
Gabe has taught and performed at multiple Kentucky schools, including Madison Central, Harrison County, Bourbon County, Williamstown, Valley, Nicholas County, George Rogers Clark, Madison Southern, Powell County, B. Michael Caudill Middle School and Madison Middle School. He was a visual designer for the 2024 Harrison County Band which earned state runner-up in class AAAA. He currently oversees the brass program at Harrison County, teaches private trumpet lessons, works as a visual designer, and frequently performs with his trumpet.
In his free time, Gabe enjoys spending time with his family and meeting up with friends made along his journey in music. He also enjoys watching football, traveling, and playing his favorite game: Counterstrike.
